Then on Sunday, we went to church and brunch with my family. My mom was unfortunately under the weather and couldn't join us, but we loved having my Grandma Sponsel there with us.
I can't help but reflect on Easter and the joy of what the day means. This year, I was constantly drawn to the feelings those close to Jesus must of felt. The agony, grief and despair felt in watching him crucified. The discouragement and sadness in those days that followed, the feeling that darkness may have won. However, when they discovered he wasn't in the tomb, just a cloth...what victory!! We know how the story ends, so I think it's easy for us to jump ahead to Easter Sunday and celebrate. However, I'm not sure we truly grasp the victory they felt. In an instant, utter despair turned into indescribable joy! It's two days after Easter and I'm still overwhelmed by the thought. Most importantly, I'm thankful for my salvation and that I have a relationship with an amazing God who always knows how the story will end and works for the good of those who love Him. I am very very blessed!
Ironically, they are both saying "cheese" but neither are actually looking at the camera
Dad and Ali
Don't be fooled by how innocent they look here
The funny thing about this is that it's a really good picture, but Nick forgot to get Maddi, who's head you can see at the bottom.
This is Brock's "mean" face...it's hilarious because there are sound effects that go along with it
The Skyline Club has a balloon lady, so Ali opted for the butterfly headband. Add some ice cream and life doesn't get much better
Grandma Dottie brought special eggs for the kids. I love the girls faces in this picture :)
Brock refused to stand still, but still a pretty good shot of Grandma and her great grandkids...this woman has quite a legacy!
We were right next to a ledge, so the kids sat down to read a book while we were wrapping up
