Thankful!

We definitely don't take enough time out of our days to stop and publicily recognize what we are thankful for.  The Lord has blessed my family with more than I could have ever imagined.  Thanksgiving is that day that stops us in our tracks and forces us to thing about the things that are important. Although I'm a couple days behind on this post, I spent this holiday weekend reflecting on what I'm thank for:
  • Knowing God...in a world full of uncertainties and darkness, I'm thankful I was raised in a family of believers. My grandparents, though devoted to different forms of Christianity, were very devout. Over the last five years, I have gradually said goodbye to my two grandfathers and one of my grandmothers. In doing so, I have been reminded that having hope and faith in God will help us surpass the darkest of days and fill our lives with much more joy than we could ever find on our own.  Their lives were an example to many of us. There are truly no words to describe the peace that comes from knowing God and understanding His grace and mercy that surround us.
  • My husband...just over 9 years ago,  Nick and I began dating. I often think back to our first date and realize that I truly fell in love with him that very night.  I didn't realize it then, but he changed my life for the better and helped me believe in love.  One of the greatest things I love about him is that he makes me laugh.  He has a great sense of humor and it this little treasure that comes out once you get to know him. I love that we are team in everything we do and we are working together to build a future for our family.
  • My children...Ali and Brock overwhelm me.  They make me want to be a better person. There is a great responsability with parenting and I take that very seriously.  I want my kids to grow up to be respectful, well rounded individuals. Most of all, I want them to know how proud they make Nick and me.
  • Friends and Family....Nick and I are blessed with supportive parents and siblings. It's great to see the Hopkins and Sponsel families growing.  We are thankful to have friends and the memories we share.
